Social Media & Fan Engagement Coordinator

The Alberta Standardbred Horse Association (ASHA) is hiring a Summer Intern – Social Media & Fan Engagement Coordinator to help grow the Standardbred horse racing community in Alberta. Funded in part by the Government of Canada through the Canada Summer Jobs program.

Position Details

• Location: Calgary, Alberta
• Term: June 1 – August 29, 2026
• Type: Full-time seasonal internship
• Hours: ~35 hours/week (hybrid — 3 days on-site, 2 days remote)
• Compensation: $20.00/hour
• Required availability: Fridays and Saturdays

What You'll Do

• Capture photos and short-form video at races, events, and promotional activities
• Create and schedule content for Facebook and Instagram, including Reels-style video
• Respond to comments and messages and help grow audience engagement
• Support content planning, trends research, and campaign ideas
• Assist with race-day promotions, contests, giveaways, and our Virtual Reality racing simulator
• Help with booth setup, signage, prizing, and event logistics
• Help create a welcoming fan experience at the racetrack

What We're Looking For

• Student or recent grad in marketing, communications, business, digital media, event management, sport management, or related field
• Strong communication and customer service skills; comfortable with the public in live event settings
• Familiarity with Facebook and Instagram; interest in photography, videography, and content creation
• Self-motivated, reliable, and positive in a fast-paced environment
• Based in the Calgary area with reliable transportation (vehicle required)

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience creating Instagram Reels or TikTok-style content
• Basic photo/video editing skills
• Previous customer service, events, or social media experience
• Interest in sports, live entertainment, or horse racing
