Make your mark while you grow your career! The Tax Compliance Manager role requires a strategic thinker with strong communication skills and a broad base of tax knowledge and experience. In this role, you will lead the company’s corporate tax compliance and tax provision functions, ensuring accurate tax reporting and strict compliance with all applicable laws. Reporting to the Director Tax, this role will play an integral part in our corporate tax team, providing insight into business decisions and contributing to long-term value creation.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of high-performing tax professionals within the tax compliance team, providing guidance, coaching and performance management to support professional growth and ensure an effective tax function
  • Tax Compliance: Oversee the preparation and timely filing of corporate income tax returns, indirect tax filings and information returns, ensuring full compliance with tax laws and regulations. This includes filing of the Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) claims
  • Tax Provision & Reporting: Manage the quarterly and annual income tax provision process in accordance with IFRS. Review and finalize tax accounting calculations and financial statement disclosures
  • Participate in cross-functional collaboration, working closely with Finance, Treasury and business teams to provide tax guidance on strategic initiatives and transactions. Ensure tax implications are considered throughout the organization
  • Involvement in preparing formal memorandums and advising senior leadership of significant tax matters
  • Identify business improvement opportunities to ensure company transactions are structured appropriately, and support audits and appeals as needed

What You Bring To The Role

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience working in a corporate tax role or relevant experience; preference for prior leadership experience
  • Accounting designation (CPA)
  • Completion of the CPA In-Depth tax course
  • Strong technical experience related to Canadian income tax law. Working knowledge of US and International taxation laws is considered an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to income tax reporting and financial accounting
  • High level of competence with computer and accounting systems
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills, is detail-oriented, resourceful, demonstrates sound judgment, is influential, and has strong strategic thinking, with the ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment
