High School ELA Tutor (Grades 8–11, Alberta Curriculum, Weekend In-Person)

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and responsible ELA tutor to support students in Grades 8–11 (Alberta curriculum). You will help students improve:

• Reading comprehension
• Literary analysis
• Essay writing skills

What You’ll Do

• Teach ELA lessons aligned with Alberta curriculum (ELA 10-1 / 20-1 / 30-1)
• Guide students in writing Critical Literary Essays & Personal Responses
• Support students with text analysis (short stories, poetry, etc.)
• Provide feedback to improve writing clarity and structure
• Help students prepare for school exams and diploma expectations

What We’re Looking For

• Strong English / Writing background
• Experience in tutoring or teaching preferred
• Familiar with Alberta ELA curriculum (preferred)
• Patient, organized, and able to engage students
• Experience with ESL students is a plus
