We are an expanding Alberta-based company providing sanitation, waste management, recycling, equipment rentals, and long-haul transportation services across the province. As our fleet and customer base continue to grow, we require a detail-oriented and highly capable Dispatch Coordinator to help drive operational success.
What This Role Involves In this position, you serve as the central hub of operations—supporting drivers, customers, and leadership while ensuring everything runs smoothly. You are highly organized, responsive, and perform well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Coordinate daily scheduling and dispatch across sanitation routes, equipment rentals, waste and recycling services, and long-haul transportation throughout Alberta
Take full ownership of route management, including planning efficient routes, optimizing stop sequences, and making real-time adjustments as conditions evolve
Plan and oversee driver schedules across the province, ensuring compliance with Hours of Service regulations, while accounting for distance, fuel stops, and turnaround times
Assign drivers and equipment based on operational requirements, availability, and customer priorities
Monitor fleet activity throughout the day and proactively respond to changes or disruptions
Act as the primary point of communication between drivers, customers, and internal operations teams
Provide professional customer service, resolve scheduling conflicts, and maintain clear, timely communication
Track and manage work orders, delivery documentation, and service completion within internal systems
Collaborate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and keep vehicles operating efficiently
Support long-haul logistics, including load coordination and compliance documentation
Assist with onboarding and training new drivers, ensuring they understand routes, procedures, and expectations from the outset
Continuously identify opportunities to improve routing efficiency and operational processes, and take initiative to implement solutions
Who We’re Looking For
This is a mid- to senior-level role suited for an experienced dispatch or logistics professional who excels in a fast-paced, operational environment.
Core Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in dispatching or logistics coordination within fleet operations, waste and sanitation, equipment rental, or transportation sectors
Strong knowledge of Alberta’s geography, including major routes, regional communities, and travel distances
Proven ability in route planning, optimization, and managing driver schedules across a broad service area
Experience using dispatch software, GPS tracking, and fleet management systems
Strong decision-making skills with the ability to remain composed under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with both drivers and customers in a professional manner
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Proficient in computer systems, including dispatch platforms, spreadsheets, and email
Solid understanding of Hours of Service regulations and commercial vehicle compliance requirements
Experience mentoring, training, or supporting new hires, or a willingness to take on this responsibility
Additional Assets
Experience coordinating dispatch across multiple service lines, including sanitation, equipment rental, and long-haul operations
Familiarity with oilsands or industrial logistics environments
Knowledge of waste management and recycling operations
