For more information on the ministry, please visit .Conservation and Construction Services (CCS) is responsible for the conservation and maintenance of Provincial Historic Resources owned by the Government of Alberta.Role ResponsibilitiesThe Conservation and Maintenance Worker reports to the Restoration Foremen and performs maintenance and construction work on historic properties in the ministry's portfolio. This position performs a variety of contemporary and traditional trades and crafts in the development and maintenance of these properties to ensure their preservation and performs three vital roles:1) Construction and Maintenance
- Assist with general construction, repair, and maintenance tasks.
- Perform basic carpentry, painting, and finishing work under supervision.
- Support skilled trades by preparing work areas, handling materials, and using tools and equipment.
- Load, unload, move, and store construction materials and supplies.
- Assist with repairs to buildings, fences, fixtures, and site features.
2) Grounds and Site Maintenance
- Perform grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, debris removal, and landscaping support.
- Conduct snow removal, ice control, and seasonal cleanup as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of work sites and surrounding areas.
3) Cyclical Preventative Maintenance
- Is involved in cyclical and preventative maintenance tasks at various remote sites throughout the province.
- Performs ground maintenance and snow removal at various remote sites throughout the province.
- Travels to these sites and performs these duties as required.
- Informs Restoration Foreman of any deficiencies that may need to be addressed in the future.

QualificationsSome high school education, related training and two year of related experience. Equivalencies will be considered.Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
- Previous experience in construction, maintenance, or general labour is an asset but not required.
- Ability to travel to different sites within Alberta is required.
- Valid driver licence is required.
- Physically able to perform demanding work including lifting, bending, standing, and working at heights and Work performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- An understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
- Familiarity with a wide range of modern tools
- Operate basic hand and power tools safely and appropriately.
