Role Responsibilities

As the primary support in election operations, the Election Operations Administrator is involved in all aspects of provincial election administration. This position participates in a variety of projects related to the planning, managing and delivery of electoral events, improvement of election processes, and related activities.

The Election Operations Administrator is a key point of contact for senior field staff and provides them with support for the appropriate application of legislation, policy, technology, and procedures in electoral administration to ensure sound decision-making in the service of Alberta’s political participants including candidates and voters. This position supports recruitment, onboarding, training of field staff and the coordinates logistics and scheduling of large-scale training. This position will also address public inquiries about electoral events and related processes, and provide senior administrative services.

Responsibilities Include

  • Supports the recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention of field staff.
  • Supports field staff in their event-related management responsibilities.
  • Coordinates the logistics for the delivery of field staff training.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and interpretation support to the public.
  • Supports local jurisdictions when electoral events are held in conjunction with local authority elections.
  • Provide other administrative support and related duties as assigned.

Education And Work Experience

  • A related Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Governance and Civil Studies, or Office Administration plus a minimum of three years of related experience (preferred) or a related Diploma in Business, Public Administration, Governance and Civil Studies, or Office Administration from a recognized post-secondary institution plus a minimum of five years related experience.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with work experience in:
  • Providing expert advice, guidance, and assistance to stakeholders over the phone, email, and in person.
  • Interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, and policies in complex situations.
  • Supporting recruitment and selection, onboarding, and training of new employees.
  • Project and/or event coordination, managing projects or project components.
  • Election administration.
