As a Courts Advisory Counsel, you will offer strategic legal advice to the judiciary, court lawyers, and staff across the Court of Justice, Court of King's Bench, and Court of Appeal. Your expertise will shape legal information policies, focusing on privacy and access, while enhancing the effectiveness of the justice system. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal advice on privacy and information governance
  • Develop legal information policies for court judgments and records
  • Train and guide court resources, including judicial staff
  • Participate in internal and cross-ministry committees

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) Degree
  • Minimum 11 years post-bar legal experience
  • Membership or eligibility with the Law Society of Alberta
  • Deep knowledge of privacy and access laws
  • Understanding of courts functions and relevant statutes
