Salary: $2,192.15 to $2,773.77/bi-weekly ($57,215 to $72,395/year)

Alberta Public Safety and Emergency Services, Sheriffs Branch, Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Services is looking for a self-motivated individual to join our team.

Role Responsibilities

In this position, you will provide administrative support to Fish and Wildlife Enforcement staff throughout the unit.

Key duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing regulatory and general information to the public related to fish and wildlife legislation and human–wildlife interactions.
  • Coordinating and preparing investigative files for court proceedings.
  • Conducting fisheries and wildlife licensing activities.
  • Managing files and records.
  • Maintaining occurrence reporting data and performing general administrative duties.

The successful candidate will be a strong team player with an interest in law enforcement and a working knowledge of hunting, fishing, and trapping practices and regulations.

Please note that this position may require the handling of deceased wildlife specimens or wildlife remains as part of operational responsibilities.

Qualifications

A high school diploma and three years of related experience.

Equivalency

Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of: one year of experience for one year of education, OR one year of education for one year of experience.

The following may be considered assets

  • Previous or current experience of Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Services directives, procedures and legislation.
  • Previous or current experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook and Adobe.
  • Previous or current experience with record management systems.
  • Previous or current experience using these government programs: 1GX, JOIN, ASPIRA, ARI, MOVES, RMS NICHE, MPS/I-Net Viewer, APIS, PowerDMS and SharePoint

This position will work 36.25 hours Monday to Friday.

Final candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced security screening.

Please note: It is anticipated that this position will transition to the new Alberta Sheriffs Police Service at a future date.
