Reporting to the Senior Business Analyst, the Business‑Functional Analyst supports the strategic evolution of Academic Quality and Operational Excellence (AQOE) by serving as a business and functional subject matter expert for AQOE‑sponsored systems and platforms. The role works at the intersection of academic operations, policy and procedure, people, process, and technology.
The position is accountable for the stewardship of AQOE‑sponsored platforms across their lifecycle, applying strong business and functional analysis to ensure systems are aligned with operational needs and institutional context. A key initial priority for this role is addressing identified gaps in training, documentation, and end‑user adoption, using analysis of system use, stakeholder needs, and operational risk to develop practical, accessible enablement materials.
This analysis‑driven, training‑supported approach enables consistent system use, stable platform ownership, and continuous improvement over time. Training, documentation, and user enablement are core responsibilities of the role, distinguishing it from project‑only analyst positions or roles focused on technical system configuration.
Role Scope and Fit Considerations

- Are interested in ongoing stewardship of business systems and platforms, including support, refinement, and adoption after implementation
- Enjoy working in environments where policy, process, and system considerations intersect, and where requirements may evolve over time
- Are comfortable facilitating analysis‑driven conversations, documenting decisions, and translating complex requirements into visual materials (e.g., process maps, workflows, configuration models, training aids) to support shared understanding and system adoption
- Thrive in highly relational roles that emphasize influence, collaboration, and operational continuity
This Role Is Not Primarily Focused On
- Software development or technical system configuration
- Short‑term or project‑only delivery assignments
- People management or senior enterprise strategy ownership

- Translate business needs into clear functional requirements and business‑side configuration recommendations
- Support the development and refinement of governance rules, decision criteria, and standard practices related to AQOE systems
Platform Stewardship and Adoption
- Apply business and functional analysis to identify gaps in system understanding, training, and adoption, and prioritize enablement work based on operational risk and user impact
- Provide business‑side stewardship and configuration of AQOE‑sponsored systems, working in partnership with technical teams responsible for system build and infrastructure
- Support platforms beyond initial implementation, including business‑led enhancements, refinements, and issue resolution informed by operational use and user feedback
- Develop and maintain training and enablement materials, including process maps, workflows, configuration models, and user guides, to support clear and consistent system use
- Provide ongoing end‑user support, responding to questions, clarifying system behaviour, and identifying training or documentation gaps
- Contribute to adoption and continuous improvement activities to ensure systems remain well understood, consistently used, and aligned with business needs
Collaboration and Engagement
- Work closely with academic leaders, operational teams, and Information Technology Services to support effective platform stewardship and system use
- Facilitate cross‑functional conversations where policy, process, and system constraints intersect
- Prepare clear analysis, documentation, and recommendations to support informed decision‑making
