This position has a term length of 1 year plus 1 day, with the possibility of extension.

Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton amd the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital.

The "Research Operations Specialist" supports the coordination of research activities within the Brain–Computer Interface (BCI) and neurorehabilitation research program. The role focuses on assisting with day-to-day research operations, including coordination of ethics processes, participant recruitment, and data collection activities under the direction of the principal investigator. The position also provides administrative and logistical support for research projects, including documentation, communication, and support for grant and publication activities.

This role operates within established procedures and supports the effective organization of research activities.

A. Research and Clinical Coordination (45%)

  • Assist with coordination of day-to-day research activities.
  • Support participant and patient recruitment in collaboration with clinical staff.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordination of clinical and research data collection activities.
  • Support communication with clinicians and research collaborators.

B. Research Administration and Compliance (20%)

  • Assist with preparation and coordination of REB submissions, amendments, and renewals.
  • Maintain research documentation and records in accordance with standard procedures.

C. Research Support (15%)

  • Support preparation of research proposals and grant applications (e.g., literature searches, document preparation).
  • Assist with preparation of manuscripts and reports.

D. Data and Documentation Support (10%)

  • Maintain research databases and organize research data and files.
  • Ensure proper documentation and record keeping.

E. Program Support and Communication (5%)

  • Assist with organizing meetings, preparing minutes, and tracking follow-up items.
  • Support communication with collaborators and team members.

F. Budget and Resource Coordination (5%)

  • Track expenditures and maintain simple budget records.
  • Assist with procurement of research supplies and materials.

Required

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Health Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, or related discipline).
  • Experience in clinical or health-related research coordination.

Assets (not required)

  • Familiarity with research ethics (REB) processes.
  • Experience with data management systems (e.g., Excel, REDCap).
  • Experience working with clinical populations or in a research environment.
  • Exposure to grant or manuscript preparation processes.
