General Superintendent
Weston Construction AlbertaWeston Construction Alberta is seeking an experienced General Superintendent to support operations across the West Valley Line LRT project in Edmonton, Alberta.
This is a senior field leadership role for a highly experienced construction professional with strong practical knowledge of construction methods, workforce management, field operations, and safety leadership.
The successful candidate will act as the company’s eyes and ears in the field — continuously moving throughout the project corridor, checking in with crews, GF/crew leads, area managers, superintendents, and client representatives to ensure strong communication, workforce effectiveness, safe work practices, and positive client relationships.
This role is heavily focused on field presence, communication, relationship-building, mentorship, and operational awareness. Personality is critical for this position. We are looking for someone people naturally trust, respect, and enjoy working with — someone clients and crews are comfortable calling directly.
Responsibilities include monitoring workforce professionalism and field performance, identifying manpower shortages or upcoming staffing needs, supporting crews with problem-solving, coaching employees on proper construction methods and safe work practices, correcting unsafe or improper work practices, and maintaining strong communication between the field, clients, and office leadership.
The successful candidate must have extensive hands-on construction experience and a high-level understanding of how different crafts and scopes of work should be performed safely, correctly, and efficiently. This individual must be comfortable mentoring workers, holding employees accountable, and helping maintain high operational and safety standards throughout the project.
This position will also support hiring, onboarding, workforce development, discipline, and termination processes when required.
Qualifications
- Extensive construction experience required
- Strong understanding of civil construction and field operations
- Proven leadership experience in construction environments
- High-level knowledge of construction methods, procedures, and multiple crafts
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to coach, mentor, and correct workers professionally
- Strong problem-solving and situational awareness
- Ability to build strong relationships with clients and crews
- Professional, approachable, and highly personable
- Strong safety mindset with the ability to lead by example
- LSE designation strongly preferred
- NCSO designation strongly preferred
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license required
- Ability to work flexible hours as required
- Provide clean drivers abstract
- D&A test pre hire
Pay: $100,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
