About the Role
Avant Brands is looking for an organized, detail-oriented HR Coordinator to bring structure and consistency to HR across our four facilities. Our team of about 180 employees is currently supported at each site by our Quality Assurance staff. This new role will centralize our HR records and processes and become the go-to HR resource for our managers and supervisors.
In your first month, you will lead a company-wide review of employment contracts. You’ll gather contracts from each facility, identify anything missing or outstanding, and build a complete, accurate record of every employee’s contract details. After that, you will own and maintain that record, along with hiring, onboarding and performance reviews.
This role does not involve day-to-day supervision of staff. Instead, you will support the managers and supervisors who lead our teams, giving them guidance on HR matters and making sure our processes are fair, consistent and compliant.
The HR Coordinator reports to the VP Finance and requires in person attendance 5 days a week at our Lake Country facility. This role is based at a licensed cannabis production facility that follows security procedures set by Health Canada. A cannabis odour may be noticeable throughout the building.
The expected start date is January 11, 2027.

- Build and maintain a central record of all employee contracts, including terms, start and end dates, probation periods and outstanding items.
- Track upcoming contract renewals, probation completions and other key dates, and follow up so nothing lapses.
- Keep employee records accurate and up to date in our HR and payroll system (Push Operations).
Hiring and Onboarding
- Coordinate recruitment with hiring managers, including job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling and offer letters.
- Manage onboarding for new hires across all facilities, including employment paperwork, contracts and orientation.
- Work with our third-party IT providers to set up laptops, accounts and equipment for new employees, and to recover and reassign equipment when employees leave.
Performance Reviews
- Lead the performance review process across the company, including scheduling, templates, reminders and follow-up.
- Support managers and supervisors in preparing for and delivering reviews.
- Keep records of completed reviews and any resulting action plans.
HR Guidance
- Serve as the first point of contact for managers and supervisors on HR questions, policies and employee relations matters.
- Help ensure HR practices are consistent across facilities and compliant with applicable employment standards.
- Recommend improvements to HR processes and policies as the function grows.
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of experience in an HR coordinator, HR generalist or similar role.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent experience.
