The M&A Integration Solution Architect provides solution architecture services for the integration and transition of business applications and operational technology (OT) systems associated with mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. Working under the guidance of the organization Architecture Team, this role defines the target-state architecture and transition roadmap for lifting and shifting the acquired company’s existing applications and SCADA environment into organization. The M&A Integration Solution Architect collaborates with business, OT, cybersecurity, infrastructure, data, operations, project delivery, and acquired-company stakeholders to ensure integration is secure, resilient, supportable, and completed within the milestones and exit dates established by the Transition Services Agreement (TSA).
Key Responsibilities
- Assess the acquired company’s application and OT landscape, including SCADA platforms, interfaces, data flows, infrastructure dependencies, identity and access, network connectivity, hosting, licensing, support models, and operational criticality.
- Define current-state, interim-state, and target-state architectures for the lift-and-shift migration of business applications and SCADA systems into organization environments.
- Develop application disposition and migration strategies, including rehost, replatform, retire, retain, replace, or remediate decisions, in alignment with business continuity and TSA constraints.
- Design end-to-end integration solutions covering applications, APIs, middleware, file transfers, data migration, infrastructure, cloud services, OT networks, SCADA interfaces, cybersecurity controls, monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, and operational support.
- Translate business, operational, regulatory, safety, and technical requirements into architecture artifacts, high-level and detailed designs, transition roadmaps, and implementation guidance using organization standards and approved patterns.
- Identify architecture, cybersecurity, data, operational resilience, and migration risks; define mitigations and obtain review from the appropriate organization stakeholders and governance bodies.
- Ensure solution designs account for SCADA availability, segmentation, secure remote access, telemetry, alarming, historian connectivity, control-centre interfaces, and safe cutover and rollback requirements.
- Maintain architecture decisions, dependencies, assumptions, compliance checklists, and traceability from requirements through implementation.
- Work with project stakeholders to develop delivery estimates and funding-stage estimates (C5, C3, and C1) using established tools and processes.
Architecture Governance & Enterprise Alignment
- Partner with Portfolio, Enterprise, and foundation technology architects to align transition solutions with organization strategy, standards, reference architectures, and target-state roadmaps.
- Facilitate architecture discovery and decision-making across organization, the acquired company, TSA service providers, vendors, and delivery partners.
- Identify opportunities for standardization, reuse, modernization, simplification, and technical debt reduction without compromising TSA timelines or business and operational continuity.
- Prepare governance materials and present solutions involving new technologies, exceptions, or material risks to the Architecture Review Board (ARB), Technology Working Group (TWG), and other relevant review forums.
Migration Delivery & TSA Execution
- Support project delivery teams throughout the implementation lifecycle.
- Provide technical leadership during implementation, testing, deployment, and transition to operations.
